Stephanie Dodson Dougherty

Attorney

Stephanie has extensive experience representing project owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout Georgia and Florida.

Her practice focuses on contract drafting and negotiation, lien and bond claims, Georgia licensing issues, dispute resolution, and payment enforcement. Understanding the need to avoid or shift potential risks for construction professionals, she has drafted and negotiated scores of construction contracts, including development and leasing agreements, prime contracts, subcontracts and master subcontract agreements, and supplier documents. Bringing legislative and local government experience to her practice, Stephanie contributes to projects’ success by ensuring proper contracting, working with governmental entities, and minimizing clients’ risk. Before joining Cotney Construction Law in 2020, she worked at a boutique construction law firm serving Georgia and Florida. Prior to entering the private sector, Stephanie served the State of Florida as a legislative attorney where she specialized in local government issues and worked closely with elected officials, lobbyists, and the public.
